I started working with clay as an Art Major at San Francisco State University in 1988. In 1990, I traveled abroad where I taught ceramics at Ledward Barracks and K-5 grade art at Schweinfurt Elementary School, Schweinfurt, Germany. I received a degree in Technical Illustration from Clover Park Technical College (Steilacoom, WA) in 1992. I continue to develop my craft at Moshier Art Center (Burien, WA) where I returned to ceramics in 1993.
In 2004, I began combining my passions for the flora and fauna of the Pacific Northwest, technical draftsmanship and ceramics. This has culminated in the body of work contained within this website. I continue to develop new glaze formulas to accentuate the detailed carvings. The process is long, tedious and exacting – often taking many days and stages of dryness to complete. Many of the motifs – frogs, ferns, flowers and fish – are inspired by the local natural environs as well as those found around the Pacific Rim.
